About Better Together
Our mission is to help families eliminate personal debt through mentorship. Through classes, programs and practical support, we’ve helped our graduates pay off more than $550,000 in debt since we opened our doors in 2016.
Chinelle Carrington | Debt Reduction: $5,600
“I graduated from the program in December of 2020. It was a hard year due to Covid, but I paid down $5,600 in debt, saved $1,000 and was able to thrive, not just survive. I continue to work at WWU and have learned life skills in money management and will now teach my daughter.”
What we do
Eliminating debt.
Our classes and programs are designed to equip families with the tools and knowledge to budget, pay down debt, and build their savings.
We facilitate several financial literacy classes that range from four to twelve weeks. In addition, we run a one year mentorship program called New Start Initiative. Over twenty families have graduated our NSI program since we opened our doors in 2016.
Supporting families.
Throughout the mentorship process we provide families with practical support, such as food, gasoline, and other items they may need.
Our upcoming Storehouse program will provide a physical location where our students and partner organizations can receive practical goods and support as they learn about financial literacy.
Partnering with our community.
We collaborate with non-profits and local organizations to link families in need to goods, services, and financial literacy education.
Through our connections with local police and fire departments, we provide victims of fires and emergency situations with clothing and any items they may need.
